Neighborhood Information

   Established in 1836, Berea is a historical community poised at the leading edge of the 21st century.  Located on 5.9 square miles approximately 14 miles south of Cleveland, Berea sits among the interstate highway system and is close to major transportation routes I-71 and 
I-480.  It is also one mile from Cleveland Hopkins International Airport and the International Exposition (I-X) Center.  Berea's locale makes it ideally suited to people who prefer to reside in a hometown community while enjoying an easy comute to downtown Cleveland.
    An estimated 370 industrial, retail, and specialty businesses call Berea home, including numerous retail establishments in five major shopping areas: Berea Commons and the downtown Triangle area, River Park Center (formerly Parkway Shops), West Valley Plaza, Berea Plaza, and the North End.
    Hikers, walkers, joggers, roller-bladers, and bicyclists can find a little bit of paradise beneath their feet in Berea.  The city encompasses the Mill Stream Run Reservation, a 500 acre section of the 19,000 acre Cleveland Metroparks system.  Picnic areas with restrooms, tables, grills, and pavilions are conveniently located throughout the park.  Two lakes in the reservation provide their guests with a bird sanctuary, lookout points, bathhouses, swimming areas, boating, fishing, and enhanced picnic areas.
